The deal is done; there were different rumors that Microsoft is going to acquire Skype for $ 7 Billion. The whole day we are reading different rumors from Tech Crunch and Wall Street Journal, but now it is confirmed that Microsoft has finalize the deal and acquired Skype for USD 8.5 Billion in cash. It is said to be the first sizeable acquisition since August 2008, when Microsoft spent $486 million on Greenfield Online. Steve Ballmer Microsoft Chief Executive said during the announcement about the deal of Skype Acquisition that “Skype is a phenomenal service that is loved by millions of people around the world”. Mr. Ballmer further said that: “Skype will be new business division within Microsoft Company, and Skype’s CEO Tony Bates will be the president of Microsoft Skype”.
This deal is considered as the biggest deal in the 36 years history of Microsoft, a company that traditionally has shied away from large deals. This Price includes the debt price of Skype as well. The news about this deal was confirmed by the Wall Street Journal.
